Did you know Muldoon's is about to celebrate our 40th birthday?! It's a rather formidable feeling! A pub should be old (NOT that forty is old in "people-years"!!! But for a family-owned & family-operated business in the commercial heart of Newport Beach, forty years is a major milestone)! We are a team along with all of you, our cherished patrons who keep us going strong! We made the new Pub Football Tees to honor that team spirit and wear our age proudly!!!!   THANK YOU DEAR FRIENDS! SLAINTE!

Recently went to an out-of-town wedding where kegs of handcrafted beer were being served. It was delicious! Enquired what the beer was, and turns out it was HOPPY POPPY I.P.A. ~ a product of Figueroa Mountain Brewery where our dear friend's son is a brewer! Our friend had never said too much about FMB's beers, not wanting to make us feel pressured to bring any of them on. But here we were, discovering them for ourselves by coincidence and instantly knowing we wanted to share them with you at the pub! And today Hoppy Poppy I.P.A. makes it's debut at Muldoon's on draught! We're so excited for you all to try this award-winning brew so come down to Muldoon's on this exceedingly hot day and order a crisp cold one!

Hoppy Poppy IPA is a light-bodied, “west coast” India pale ale featuring Centennial, Cascade, and Simcoe hops and poppy seeds. Like Figueroa Mountain in May, this brew is bursting with a bouquet of floral, citrusy hop flavors and aromas.

Irish Storm

It's pouring down rain and all I can think about is Irish Stew for lunch! I have always adored rain! And I crave booth 2 or booth 3 in Muldoon's dining room, or a tall table in our Dublin Pub, where I have the perfect view of the rain through the windows while I sit cozy with a warm luscious bowl of Irish Stew! Dipping hunks of freshly baked Irish Soda Bread into my bowl to sop up the rich savory liquid. This is a day for settling in to one of those spots with a book or a journal. Some tea or coffee and warm homemade apple pie. Splendid!

Sunday March 9th sees us host our "12th Annual Muldoon's Kilt Contest". It is one of the highlights of our calendar and this year is looking like being our best ever. We are now accepting entries to compete alongside past winners and up and coming challengers alike. The criteria is simple, you must be male (sorry ladies) and you must wear a kilt!!!!! Easy.
You will be judged on knowledge of your clan/kilt patterns, as well as any additional Celtic talents you wish to share (ie: a song, a jig, a limerick, a poem, quote or tale, etc.)!
Each participant will receive a Muldoon's gift voucher and there are prizes galore and the all important bragging rights for the overall winner!!!! But places are limited so please submit an entry asap!!!
We will have a fun filled day for all the family, with dancing, bag-pipes and music from the amazing Craic in the Stone. So whether you're here to take home the prize or just looking for a great day out, Muldoon's Irish Pub on March 9th (1-4pm) is the place to be.
As a native of Dublin, Ireland, who only moved here 6 months ago I'm so excited and proud to carry on this fabulous tradition here at Muldoon's in our 40th anniversary year. Although kilt wearing is predominantly associated with our Scottish neighbors, a vast majority of the Highlanders actually settled there from Ireland in the 4 & 5th centuries so Ireland too is steeped in the history.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh,
Paul Murphy,
Manager, Muldoon's Irish Pub

Happy New Year everybody!!! Hope you had a blast on NYE and wishing you great joy in 2014!!!

I'm feeling so happy to be in 2014! And I've made many new years' resolutions... especially to lose a few pounds! Yes indeed, I fully believe that to get into the Holiday spirit and revel in the Holiday season one must enjoy all the amazing foods and drinks that come but once a year! And. I. Did. I'm not sorry!!!! I LOVE our Bog Nog (Muldoon's heavenly homemade egg nog) and we only make it each December, so there's one. I LOVE Christmas cookies, so there's two. And so on..... But today is a new day and I've already gotten back on track! I LOVE our Goddess Salad!!!!! It is a chopped salad with fresh lettuce, vine tomato, carrots, pearl potatoes, kalamata olives, cucumbers, smoked gouda and hard-boiled organic egg all tossed in our homemade green goddess dressing. Perfection! It's super yummy, so I don't miss out on taste, and it's a balanced meal full of protein and veggies so I feel satisfied and healthy. People always ask me what to order at Muldoon's that's on the lighter side, and since there's probably a few of you out there who are like me and have made the resolution to lose a few pounds, I figured I'd share some of my absolute favorite dishes on our menu (that incidentally are on the lighter side). Enjoy! And here's to a tasty 2014!

Roasted Certified Angus New York Strip, sliced and served with Bleu Cheese, Vine Tomato, Avocado and Grilled Romaine with homemade Champagne-Lime Vinaigrette.

This salad is wonderfully fresh and light, yet it is a meal and leaves you feeling satisfied. It's a great dish!

And served with Grilled Corn and Zucchini, Vine Tomato, Avocado, Seasonal Fruit and Mixed Greens tossed in Champagne-Lime Vinaigrette.

Amazing combination of flavors and textures. The Grilled vegetables and grilled protein mixed with the cold crisp vegetables and dressing is really tasty!

Also try

And Hard-boiled Organic Egg, Bleu Cheese, Dubliner White Cheddar, Lettuce, Vine Tomato, Avocado, Olives & your choice of homemade dressing.

With Jumbo Wild Caught Blue Shrimp, Wild Caught Crab, Cold Iceberg, Vine Tomato, Avocado, Olives and homemade Louie Dressing.

I hope all of you enjoyed Thanksgiving. For me it was a day spent feeling thankful for the people in my life. That includes all of you out there who appreciate what we do at Muldoon's. Thank you for supporting our efforts as one of the few remaining family-owned independent restaurants in Fashion Island. Life is change. Yet we all need some things to stay the same, to be there for us, and that is one of the great comforts of an Irish pub. Muldoon's is celebrating 40 years of being here for you. Thank you for being here for us too. Good times, peace & sláinte!
