Muldoon's was thrilled to have been a major sponsor for the Irish Fair last weekend! We sponsored the main stage for the brilliant bands The Young Dubliners and The Fenians, who played such great shows, as always!!!! We love those lads & their great music!
It was a great pub day today! Good vibes everywhere! The Celtic Bar was rockin' with the music flowing, football on all the screens, and then even better: THE FENIANS performing on the patio!!! All the food was so scrumptious, especially starting out with a Nutty Irishman to drink and then literally the world's BEST burger, pub salad and a pile of perfect handcut french fries! MULDOON'S ROCKS!
It was a beautiful day at Muldoon's on Sunday, August 21st! THE FENIANS were soooooo great!!!!!!!!!! Everyone loved their amazing Irish music and rad covers of David Bowie & Prince!!!!!!! And it was incredibly touching to watch The Ancient Order of Hibernians bestow a special award upon Muldoon's Owner & Operator, Ron Schwartz! They chose Ron as their honoree because of his commitment to Irish culture during the 42 years & counting that he has run California's best Irish Pub: Muldoon's! In keeping with his history of supporting Irish arts & artists, Ron presented a young Irish step dancer with a scholarship of sorts in the form of a check for $1,000 to continue pursuing her passion for Irish Step Dancing! Everyone felt a warm, wonderful glow from this truly amazing event! And from the Irish coffees with breakfast! Thank you to THE FENIANS and The AOH from all of us at Muldoon's!
At MULDOON'S we were super excited that yesterday was NATIONAL BEER DAY!!!!!!!!!!
On April 7th back in 1933, then-president Franklin Roosevelt signed into law the first step toward the repeal of Prohibition which allowed people to brew, sell & purchase beer in the United States for the 1st time in 13 years! Roosevelt aptly stated "I think this would be a good time for a beer!"
Beer dates back to approximately 9500 BC! And is the 3rd most popular drink worldwide after water and tea ~ but it's the #1 at Muldoon's, where we every day is Beer-Day!
One thing that you wouldn't think should go along with drinking is throwing sharpened hand missiles... but hey, darts has been a tradition in pubs for more than 100 years, and our cherished patrons have been enjoying rounds of darts at Muldoon's for nearly 42 years!
Here are the basics: Darts is usually played with 2 players or 2 teams. Each player/team gets 3 throws per turn. In this basic rendition of darts the object is to get the highest score. Scoring goes like this: In the outermost area you score the amount posted on the outer ring. In the double ring (the outer narrow ring) you score twice the number hit. In the triple ring (the inner narrow ring) you score three times the number hit. A bullseye (outer bull) is twenty-five points. And a double bullseye (inner, smallest bull) is fifty points.
Gather your mates for darts at Muldoon's today!
From CHEF'S PICKS: IRISH PUBS
Max Schultz, Culinary Director of Sessions West Coast Deli (California), selected Muldoon's Irish Pub, Newport Beach as the top Irish Pub in the country!
“A good bet any time of the year, but especially on St. Patrick’s Day, is Muldoon’s in Newport Beach,” says Max Schlutz. “I love supporting this local spot by dropping in for an honest pint of Guinness and a Glen of any age.” As for the food, Schlutz says it’s no slouch either: “They feature Irish classics, like savory meat pies and Irish stew, which are only second to their Doon’s Burgers. The St. Paddy features a half-pound of Angus beef, topped with Dubliner cheese, slab bacon and California avocado. After you eat, you can practice your Irish jig, as live music performances entertain nightly.”
~THANK YOU SO MUCH to Max Schultz and to The Food Network! CHEERS! ~ from all of us at Muldoon's!

Summery Salads ~ we got this!
Folks have told us they've been pleasantly surprised by our salads!
It's always good to exceed expectations!
But salads were a big part of the scrumptious home-cooking I enjoyed while living with an amazing family of artists in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. My friend Yvonne, the lady of the house where I was staying, is a "soul-chef" who whips things up, never concerned about measuring or recipes, and she had a magical touch with veggie dishes!
Sindi Rae, Muldoon's Owner & Executive Chef, is a finely-trained chef, and yet every bit the soulful culinary cook who can imagine and invent and execute irresistible flavors! When she was feeling like eating delicious salads, she created three amazing new salads, BOOM ~ and then suddenly all of us were feeling like eating delicious salads, too!
Yeah, we're a pub... and we got this!
